The Golf GTI Edition 50 in detail

Design, performance, chassis and interior — everything you need to know before you visit us.

Design

Fifty years of a familiar silhouette

The Edition 50 wears its anniversary quietly but clearly: a honeycomb grille, a full-width light strip, red brake calipers behind dark alloy wheels and GTI 50 detailing inside and out. It is a Golf first — compact, useful and easy to live with — with the stance to match its output.

Performance

325 PS, and a chassis to use it

A 2.0-litre TSI turbocharged petrol engine produces 325 PS, sent to the front wheels through a 7-speed DSG gearbox and a front differential lock. Volkswagen quotes 0–62 mph in approximately 5.4 seconds, with lowered sports suspension and performance-focused driving modes developed on demanding roads and circuits.

  • Performance figures are manufacturer figures achieved under controlled conditions. Actual figures will vary according to specification, conditions, load and driving style.
  • Top speed is electronically limited and only relevant where legal limits allow. Higher limited speeds are only available with selected equipment.

Everyday usability

A hot hatch you can use all week

For all its performance, the Edition 50 keeps what has always made the GTI sensible: five seats, five doors, a usable boot and a comfortable ride when you are simply commuting. It is as suited to the school run and the supermarket as it is to an early Sunday morning.

Equipment levels, wheel designs and paint finishes vary by specification. Please contact us to confirm the details of available vehicles.

  • Fuel consumption and CO2 figures are determined according to the WLTP test procedure and are provided for comparison purposes only. Figures achieved in everyday driving will vary.
